If you didn’t know, Wells is most famous because of the movie Hot Fuzz! That’s right, Sgt. Angel walked these streets and enjoyed his daily Cornetto with PC Danny Butterman in the Wells Market Place.

Wells Cathedral – THE MOON HAS LANDED!
Only a stones throw from us, Wells Cathedral are currently exhibiting a new MOON inside! Pop by and have a look! It’s a MUST see! Take part in the self-guided astronomy tour, and lots of fantastic evening events. There is something for everyone. Young to old.
CHRISTMAS ARTISAN MARKET. – NOVEMBER 6TH- 7TH
The Christmas Artisan Market will return to The Bishop’s Palace in Wells for it’s sixth year! This hugely popular event will take place on 6th – 7th November 10am – 4pm, and visitors can head along to the medieval site to get their Christmas shopping started with a bang.
There will be plethora of unique, unusual and inspirational artisans in attendance, curated from throughout the heart of the West Country to get everyone in the mood for a spot of seasonal retail therapy.
The medieval rooms of the Palace, upstairs and downstairs will be filled with a variety of enticing stalls, offering hand-made and unique gifts that are the perfect inspiration for those difficult to buy for friends and family, whilst also supporting local small businesses from the South West of England.
If all the shopping means you’re in need of refreshment, then head over and join us. Just the other side of the Bishop’s Palace, enjoy wine, beer, Somerset cider and much more.
This event is in aid of The Bishop’s Palace and tickets are available at £8 adult, Child 5-17 £4, Under 5’s and palace members FREE.
Wells Festival of Literature.
Set up in 1992 to promote the love of books and of reading throughout the community.
The festival is a registered charity entirely run by a committee of volunteers, and is funded by ticket sales, competition entries and our generous local sponsors and friends.
This year Wells Festival of Literature is set to return October 15th – 23rd October. You can buy tickets here.

Edward Leaker’s Blaze Ensemble. – Cedars Hall
Edward’s groundbreaking crossover ensemble featuring string quartet and soprano saxophone play the music of Astor Piazzolla to coincide with the composer’s centenary year.
Blaze was formed in 2008 and the group has been prolific in developing new repertoire for the exciting combination of instruments. For this show, they will be joined by classical guitar to perform specifically commissioned arrangements of Piazzzolla’s music by Hywel Davies alongside music from their extensive back catalogue.
